Range

As myspace relies on it's diversity of content (in order to keep/enlargen their number of visitors), the music section is full to the brim with niche and mainstream artists. There is around 120 main genre's, each one containing many different artists that have biographies and tracks up on their page for people to listen to.

Because myspace can be used as a promotional tool for artists, it is worth their while to sign up and create a page, meaning there is always going to be diveresity. Myspace realises that all artisits need advertising and promoting, as so unites them all, regardless of genre.

Infomation, Interaction

Artist can put a much or a little infomation about them/their band as they wish. For example, JME has lot's of personal infomation up, regarding his carrer and general life. He also does regular blogs that keep his fans up to date his his mucis and his life. It's a great way for fans to futher get to know their favourite artist. They can also post comments on blogs and profiles, allowing them direct interaction with them. A lot of artists spend time repplying to fans. :-D

Downloading

All artists have music players embeded on the page, with their latest tracks. This allows fans to here tasters of up and coming albums or singles.It's a great way to promote the band. Some also are available for download straight from the page. These tracks are usually old, or from an unsigned artist hoping that people put it on their personal music players and show friends. Word of mouth is a powerfull marketing tool and can help launch bands.
