Electro Punk

Electropunk is an umbrella term that describes the combination of electronic music with the attitude of punk. Popular and important artists of the early electropunk period were Nitzer Ebb, Suicide from the USA, DAF and Liaisons Dangereuses from Germany, Portion Control from the UK, and Dead Inside the Chrysalis from Australia.

The term has tended to be used in relation to bands of this type that do not fit neatly into any other genre category, for example Sheep on Drugs and, more recently, a new wave of bands fusing punk with electronics, including the UK's Discordinated, Sicknote, Death by Television, Germany's Warren Suicide, America's Avenpitch and The Show Is the Rainbow, and the Czech Republic's Sunshine.

Subgenres of electropunk:

3 shots testing two different effects.

1) The abilty to use crops and clipping masks to give the effect of someone walking past themselves.

2) The abilty to create a CCTV style shot using nothing but raw DV footage.

It was important to test shots like these out as they could add a big element to our video, while at the same time, if poorly executed, would completely detract from the video as a whole. I think the tests came out well and as a result are perfect for our video.

MTV

"

MTV (Music Television) is an American cable television network based in New York City. Launched on August 1, 1981, the original purpose of the channel was to show music videos.[1] Today, MTV broadcasts a variety of pop culture, youth culture, and reality television shows aimed at adolescents and young adults.

Since its premiere, MTV has revolutionized the music industry. Slogans such as "I want my MTV" became embedded in public thought, the concept of the VJ (video jockey) was popularized, the idea of a dedicated video-based outlet for music was introduced, and both artists and fans found a central location for music events, news, and promotion. MTV has also been referenced countless times by musicians, other TV channels and shows, films and books.

MTV has spawned a handful of sister channels in the U.S. and dozens of affiliated international channels around the world. MTV's moral influence on young people, including examples of censorship and social activism on the channel, has been the subject of debate for years. MTV's choice to focus on non-music programming has also been contested relentlessly, demonstrating the channel's continued impact on popular culture."
